Matt Simms: Bryce’s Future in Carolina Could Be on the Line

After Sunday’s disappointing loss to the Saints at home, the jury is once again out on Bryce Young, as he struggled to make the throws necessary to win the game. This of course, comes a week after Young did exactly that, in leading the Panthers to an upset win at Green Bay, despite being 13.5 point underdogs going into the game. If you look at Young’s stat line for this season, there isn’t anything that overly stands out, as he’s thrown for just over 1,500 yards, with 11 touchdowns, against 9 interceptions, in his 9 starts this season. Part of that is that Carolina is a run-first football team, and when they’ve been able to run the football, it’s led to wins, and the game didn’t require Young to be prolific through the air. With that in mind, there does appear to be some regression in Young’s play, as compared to his final 10 games to end the 2024 season, raising the question: who’s is to blame for the struggles in the passing game? Dave Canales or Bryce Young?
Earlier this morning on the Mac & Bone Show, the guys brought on Matt Simms for a deeper evaluation of Young’s struggles, as Simms talked about the ongoing struggles for Bryce Young in his third season in the NFL he outlines how the Panthers coaching staff can help Bryce moving forward, while also acknowledging that his future as a starter could be on the line.
