Doug Gillin: The Future Is Bright For App In Athletics

The school year may be winding down, but right around the corner is the start to a new athletic season, with football leading the way. The AD for App State, Doug Gillin, joined Kyle Bailey to discuss the mindset of the Mountaineers as they start a new era for football in 2025.

The first topic broached with Doug surrounded the football program and new coach Dowell Loggains, as Doug said, ever since the first conversation with Dowell during the coaching search, things have clicked and been excellent and he’s excited to start the season. Doug has also worked on playing more in-state opponents, including playing Charlotte to start the year, and reigniting their rivalry against Western Carolina in 2028 as Doug emphasized the importance of playing local teams whenever there’s a chance.

Doug also went on to discuss the impact Dustin Kerns has had on the basketball program, and how the Mountaineers are planning to enter into a whole new era of college sports.
